Overview

Murder Mystery is a mystery- comedy movie staring Adam Sandler, Jennifer Antison, and Luke Evans. After forgetting the long awaited honey moon he had promised to his wife years ago ,Nick Spitz(Adam Sandler), a NYPD officer training to be a detective, decides to take finally take his wife on the trip to Europe. things take a turn when Audrey Spitz(Jennifer Antison), Nicks wife, meets Charles(Luke Evans), a wealthy man, that later on invites her and Nick on board his ship. After meeting all the people on board, Nick and Audrey go to an event held by Charles's' father. Right when Charles's father is about to sign a contract saying who will get his fortune the lights are turned off and he is shot dead. With all sorts of suspects and only one "detective" it is now up to Nick and Audrey to find out who murdered Charles's father!

Plot/Story Line

The plot, where to start? The plot for this movie was pretty generic, one could even say it's like a road trip movie, but instead there in 5 star hotels and in the nicest places in Europe. Adam Sandler used his classical plot where he has a problem, thinks he solves it, then it turns out he didn't. This also has the generic murder mystery book plot. the plot is so bland it's almost like nothing has emotion and everybody is a background character. I mean even when the film tries to be funny it fails to, in no point in the movie did I laugh or go beyond a chuckle. The plot is so bad, in points I felt like not watching the movie. The plot is so confusing at moments, it made me have to stop the film to understand what is going on. I really couldn't think of anything positive to say other than the summary of what happened was pretty good but the build up for it was ruined thanks to the characters lack of character. Overall I give the plot a 6.7/10.

VFX

This movie didn't really have much VFX. The only scenes in which they used VFX was when there was action or somebody was being shot at. At one point in the film their was scene in which a car explodes, and it looked pretty good. Overall i give the little VFX used a 8.7/10.

Visuals

The visuals for this film aren't anything crazy but nothing near terrible. We do get beautiful shots of Europe that I indeed respect, but it's nothing that blew my mind away or anything that I haven't already seen. The visuals do their work when they need to, when the atmosphere is supposed to be a certain tone the visuals do their best to create that feeling. As I said the visuals aren't anything to go crazy over but they do their job, so I give the visuals a 8/10.

Acting/Cast

Let's start this off by talking about the cast, we have Adam Sandler and Jennifer Antison, who already have done work together in the movie "Just Go With It". The casting isn't anything to crazy other than two or three sort-of big names in the film, I mean the casting isn't bad, if the characters would be given a bit more life the cast would perfectly fit in with the characters. The acting is something I won't take to harsh because Adam Sandler is the one that asks for the bland acting and the cast has nothing to do with it. Some of the actors do try their best in some scenes to bring more life into the character but it's not much. Overall I give casting and acting a 7.5/10.

Rate/Is It Worth It?

Now before I give my review I just want to say I don't hate Adam Sandler's Movie, I find them, although silly, funny and entertaining. I have enjoyed some of his old work and some of his new work, for example Sandy Wexler, but this movie just isn't it. We have had enough of the classic Adam Sandler persona, and I believe it works in some films, just not in this one. If you are an Adam Sandler fan I can see why you would like it, but it's just not my form of entertainment. That said, I rate the movie a 7.3/10, and ,for me, it wasn't worth it.
