Overview

After a year of waiting, Netflix's Stranger Things Season 3 has finally been released and is now available to stream on Netflix. Stranger Things is a show that became popular for its unique story line, the past two seasons have stayed consistent in making each episode interesting but also on track with the main plot. Each episode from the past seasons come together at the end of the season to answer all the questions made by both the audience and the characters. The past two seasons were staggering and are probably the reason Stranger Things is usually on the top of peoples list when it comes to best Netflix Originals, but how well will the new season hold up? Is it worth watching all 8 episodes that contain an approximate 50 minutes each episode?

Plot/Story line

As I have said, Stranger Things usually follows a story line that at the end of each season, combines all the information and inserts it at the end of the season, with season 3 it's no different. The plot for season two follows our favorite characters that we have grown to invest our feelings in, puts them in a different sort of adventure. Although we do get some elements from the past season we basically get a completely different chapter of Stranger Things. From the very beginning of the season we our shown how the rest of the season is going to revolve around, almost all the characters, this would mean that we are consistently changing from one characters point of view to another character point of view, all through the season. This season, like the past two, is filled with twist and unpredictable moments. The plot for sure was well thought out as in some scenes it made us feel one emotion and in others another . The plot is very strong in story telling, therefore, it gives the viewers around 50 minuets an episode of pure entertainment. The negatives to the plot are very little and mainly consist of the way some character express their feelings midway through the season.the plot was really good but sometimes lacked in character moments and aging problems for characters due to the writers lack of character development. Despite the negatives, the plot remained constantly entertaining and original, one could really set this season apart from the others. I give the plot/story line an 8.7/10.

VFX

Considering Stranger Things season 3 had a budget of around $8-10 million per episode they did a pretty good job with VFX editing. sometimes the scenes with VFX were so emerging one could forget it was all done on green screen, but their were some moments in which you could tell that they used VFX. For example, their is a scene with animals that looks a bit unrealistic and flat out fake, things like this could take the viewers attention away from the show itself and onto the terrible editing. Despite some scenes for the most part they did a very good job, so good that you could take some scenes from Stranger things and compare them to the $300 million budget film, justice league (2018) , and in some cases the VFX editing in Stranger things is better than justice league. Overall I give the VFX editing a 8.3/10.

Visuals

The visuals for this season of Stranger Things wasn't anything too crazy or different. Although we did have some pretty amazing shots when Eleven spies on people with her telepathic power, this season's visuals were just like previous, but a game changer for the lack of originality with visuals is the new settings. Although we do stay in the town of Hawkins we did get to see more parts of the small town. Instead of staying in a dark environment like season two we were given bright lighting and a much more happier tone. I had originally chosen to give this season a lower rating for visuals, but given the change in setting, I rate the visuals a 7.8/10.

Acting

The cast and the acting were just as great as they have always has been. The more we progress into the season the more you can tell the chemistry among the friends is real. You can really tell they are having fun while doing and see they enjoy being around each other. The chemistry is soo good it would be surprising to know that they aren't friends in real life. By themselves or with just a couple of the cast, they still do a really good job putting emotion in their lines. That goes for the adult actors in this too, they also give a really good performance that makes you feel for them when they are sad. That said, their are also problems with the acting. Now before I say what i'm about to say, sometimes the directors and writers are the ones that ask for actors to act this way so it's not always the actors fault. In some scenes in the show the acting seems bland, without emotion. Characters ask for forgiveness with no expression what so ever, this sometimes leads the scene to feel weird and awkward . All together, the acting for the most part is pretty good, thus I rate the acting a 8.9/10

Rating/ Is It Worth It

Despite it's negatives here and there, the season was pretty enjoyable and I enjoyed watching every bit of this season. The story line was amazing and kept me exited, for those who didn't watch the past two seasons i'd recommend to do that right now because you won't want to miss this season. Was it worth it? well of course. Given how good this season was I rate it a 8.7/10.
